Experience: The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of course maintenance experience         
including fertilizer and pesticide application, irrigation repair and maintenance, staff training, course setup,
and strong communication skills.

Special Requirements:        
  • Ability to obtain a NY Pesticide Applicators license within 90 days of employment.
  • The candidate must have a strong work ethic, the desire to produce exceptional course conditions
    and  the ability to work and lead in a team environment.
  • Ability to do light equipment repair in the off season.
  • This is a year round full time position. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the
    Superintendent on all aspects of maintenance and agronomy.

     The Links at Greystone is a top public golf course with a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest and
consistently listed as one of the top public golf courses in New York. Plans for this coming year include
bunker renovations, irrigation upgrades and drainage projects.

Assistant Superintendent Position
The Links at Greystone, Walworth, NY

    Seneca Falls Country Club is looking to fill the position of Golf Course Superintendent. Seneca
Falls Country club is a semi-private golf facility that is located in the heart of the finger lakes just
south of the town of Seneca Falls in upstate New York. Seneca Falls country club is an 18 hole
championship golf course. The course was originally built and established in 1924 as a 9 hole
golf course with an additional 9 holes built in 1962.

General responsibilities:

  • Supervising the maintenance of the golf course.
  • Supervising the maintenance and repair of golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Rendering professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the facility's board of
             directors a nd managing body as required.
  • Participating in all long-range planning meetings.

   The golf course superintendent reports directly to:

  • General manager on a day-to-day basis
  • Greens committee chairman as required

Typical functions:
   The golf course superintendent assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining golf course
    properties, which may include:

  • The golf course
  • All equipment maintenance and repair to John Deere equipment fleet
  • Minor repairs to the leased golf cart fleet
  • Clubhouse grounds and landscaping
  • Open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence
  • Other properties as specified in writing by the superintendent's supervisor
  • Prepares the annual budgets for the maintenance and capital improvement of course
  • Interviews, hires, trains and supervises a staff of employees for the purpose of
             maintaining the properties.
  • Plans all maintenance and project work, applying his or her agronomic and administrative
             expertise to achieve the agreed-upon maintenance standards and long-range goals.
  • Works with the General Manager to acquire equipment and makes purchases necessary
              supplies to maintain the golf course and other properties.
  • The superintendent approves all expenditures and exercises cost control measures to
              keep, as nearly as possible, operating and capital expenses in line with the approved
  • Keeps accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance
              procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
  • Communicates regularly with other members of the top management group to discuss
              activities, goals, plans and member/customer input.


  • Degree or Certificate in Turfgrass management or related field is prefered but not
  • Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working
              knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods; and a thorough
              understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
  • A high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem
              solving and decision making.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the
             management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety
              and environmental standards, laws and regulations).
  • A NYS Certified Applicators Licence or able to obtain one within 90 Days.
